How we help Family-Managed Home Care families
Nurses and personal support workers trained on the equipment and the routines involved, matched to the schedule you actually need
A small, consistent care team rather than a constantly changing roster
Clinical oversight from our Director of Care, a registered nurse with a complex-care background
One detailed invoice, with scheduling and care-team administration handled for you
Cover for the gaps: illness, vacation, and respite
Complex care at home
Our nurses and personal support workers care for children and adults with complex care needs, including:
Tracheostomy care
Invasive ventilation support
Non-invasive ventilation support, including BiPAP
Cough Assist therapy
High-flow therapy, including Airvo
G-tube, GJ-tube and J-tube feeding and care
Complex medication regimens
Complex personal care needs
Families usually come to us at the hard transitions: a hospital discharge, a move to a new city, a stretch when adequate staffing simply cannot be found, or the point when coordinating care has become more than anyone can carry alongside the caring. These are transitions we know well. We take the time to understand what is needed, anticipate the details, and build care around the realities of your home and your life.
Family-Managed Home Care & Complex Care at Home
If you or someone you love has been approved for Family-Managed Home Care, you have been handed two things at once: funding to arrange your own nursing or personal support, and the job of arranging it.
Olive Branch Wellness works with Family-Managed Home Care families every week. We can be the team you bring in, so the recruiting, scheduling, clinical oversight and invoicing sit with us, and the part you are left holding is your loved one, not a staffing problem.
What Family-Managed Home Care is
Family-Managed Home Care is an Ontario Health atHome program. If you are eligible for home care, you can receive the funding directly and arrange the care yourself: choosing your provider, directing how care is given, and setting a schedule that works for you, instead of having services scheduled for you. It offers real control, and real administrative weight, because finding, hiring and paying the caregivers becomes yours to do.
The program is available to children with complex medical needs, adults with an acquired brain injury, home-schooled children with qualifying health care needs, people in extraordinary circumstances, for example, an older adult with multiple complex care needs.
If you go into hospital
Going into hospital doesn’t always mean your support has to stop.
If you or your child is admitted to hospital, an Olive Branch caregiver may be able to continue coming in to provide companionship, supervision and a familiar presence at the bedside, including overnight when needed.
While you are in hospital our role changes. The hospital team remains responsible for your medical and nursing care, while we provide support, help communicate your needs and preferences, and give family members a chance to rest.

Tell us about your situation.
